With so many terrible soup puns to choose from, the groans can be heard from across the prairie. Regardless, I don't want my terrible puns to distract from the news that we now have soup at the café. We will have different soups available but today we are starting with Asparagus & Brie and Organic Carrot Ginger soup. They are both very delicious and complement the rest of our menu very nicely. Look for French Onion Soup coming in a few days and more varieties in the coming weeks and months. Thank you for your support. We hope to see you again soon.

Prairie Croissant Café welcomes Little Miss Ann performing a free kids show on Sunday, September 9, at 3:00 PM. Little Miss Ann (Ann Torralba) is a former special education teacher from the Chicago public school system, the former singer/guitar player of Chicago band "Jank" and a veteran Wiggleworm from the Old Town School of Folk Music. She just played a show at Millenium Park and we are really looking forward to her special show at the café. If you want to hear her music or help support wonderful independent music, you can buy her CD at Under the Sycamore Tree, right next door. In other great news for children, we have new Kids Combo Meals with your choice of one of three kid sandwiches, baby carrots and a healthy juice or milk box. We are pleased to offer such wonderful choices.
Join us Sunday for a fun time! You can find out more about Little Miss Ann on her MySpace page .

The Prairie Croissant Café is planning to celebrate! We’re going to delve into the rich history of creative inspiration found in the swirls of a steaming cup of coffee and the vibrant energy of café life. Bohemians, artists, writers, countercultural revolutionaries, thought shapers and cultural visionaries all came together at cafes. So, to, should all the amazing talents right here in our own community.
Next weekend, we celebrate the Grand Opening of Prairie Croissant Café. Throughout the festivities all day Saturday (Aug. 18 from 7am to 10pm), we invite all visual artists (from Prairie Crossing and beyond) to come and create art on the terrace of the café. Bring your easel and canvass, sketch book, pastels, whatever materials inspire you and come to Station Square on Saturday for “Still Life on Station Square.” Choose a scene in Station Square and create a still life. When you’ve completed your masterpiece, bring it in to the café for display throughout the month of August. All artists will receive a free mug of coffee to fuel your creative efforts!
Carpe Diem.
Warmly,
Jacque

One of the things we loved most about walking the streets of Paris is stopping at one of the many crêpe stands and enjoying a wonderful, fresh, warm crêpe. Honoring that tradition, the newest addition to our menu is our Parisian Street Crêpes. We make our crêpes the same way - except we use organic ingredients. They are filled with simple ingredients like sugar, jam or nutella and are simply wonderful. Ooh-la-la! An extra bonus is you get to watch them being made fresh right at our crêpe station. Come by and enjoy one today.
