We were hoping to open our patio this weekend but now it looks like it is supposed to snow both days or at least be cold and cruddy. We will push off the opening until next weekend. Hope to see you then.

Prairie Croissant Café is pleased to announce our new online natural gourmet shop. We are offering natural, gourmet and organic products that are hard to find elsewhere in the area. Items include bulk organic grains, green cleaning products, organics cereals and beverages. We are starting with a small number of products and will be slowly adding new products each week so check back often. If you have any particular items you are interested in, please let us know and we will prioritize adding those products. Come to our site and click on the "Shop Online" link. Order by each Sunday night and pickup your groceries at the cafe on Wednesday.

Our monthly Prairie Croissant Guitar Pull - which is sort of an open jam session for more than just guitars - is now on Saturday instead of Sunday. The next one will be this Saturday, March 1 at 1:00 PM. I hope to see you all. Rock on.

Hi everyone!
If you're a procrastinator...(or forgot it was Valentine's Day, or are
in the doghouse since your big fight after you made some comment about
Valentine's Day being for suckers) or just wanted to wait until the
last possible minute to be sure your sweeties' sweets are as fresh as
possible, pop on over to the Prairie Croissant Cafe!
Fair Trade Organic Chocolate Truffles...Marcus and I will be making
them in-house Valentine's Day morning, they'll be available in cute
little Valentine's Day bags starting at lunch time. Looking for a
great way to surprise your sweetie- bring in that engagement ring or
diamond belly button ring in the early AM and I'll personally embed it
in a truffle for you. :-)
For your little ones, we have Organic Sweetie Pie Sugar Cookies, made
fresh at the cafe- heart shaped, of course. Come in for a Mommy and Me
or Daddy and Me Tea with your little one and enjoy Organic Sweetie Pie
Sugar Cookies and Rosy Raspberry Tea. Mom and Dad, try Emma's Rose
Latte- it's surprisingly fantastic. Grab a cute box of Sweetie Pies to
bring home.
For your romantic dinner for two, you'll get totally lucky if you
bring chocolate. It's a scientifically proven fact. At least that's
what I heard. Anyway, by popular demand, we finally have some more of
those gorgeous and decadent pastries- Chocolate Marquise (with
chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache and a chocolate tuille), Chocolate
Lava Cake or a White Chocolate Pyramid (a pyramid of mousse,
raspberries and white chocolate). Bring a couple home for dessert!
For those of you looking for something to savor with wine, we'll have
French Cheese Flights on our Valentine's Day reclaimed wine bottle
cheese platters. Add a baguette and a bottle of wine...
And just because we heart you, if you aren't able to make it in during
our regular business hours 8-2 call the cafe at 847-223-9800 during
the day and place an order for your Valentine's Day treats. I'll come
in especially and open the cafe back up so you can pick up your order
between 5-6:30.

Celebrate Mardi Gras this

at the Prairie Croissant Cafe
Stave off the winter chill with some Jambalaya and Turkey Gumbo. Satisfy your sweet tooth with our Bananas Foster Crepes and a Praline Latte.
Bring in the family and enjoy some Mardi Gras music, free Mardi Gras beads and doubloons. Soak up some awesome live music at the guitar pull from 1-3pm.
Wear a feather boa or a Mardi Gras worthy hat- in fact, go ahead! Dress up in your Mardi Gras wildest! (and, as always, BYOB. ;-) )

Just a quick update regarding the French Language Meetup. We have moved it to Saturday in hopes that more people will be able to attend. It will be the second Saturday of the month at noon - that is this Saturday. Hope to see you!
