Wilderness activities like lake swimming involve many risks. But most of these risks can be easily avoided or at least mitigated if you keep in mind your basic knowledge about outdoors survival and preparation.
Lake offers fun and relaxation for everyone. With so many types of lake activities, there are equally just as many ways that accident can occur. If you choose swimming as your favorite lake activity, you must swim safely. Learn to swim and ensure that all of your family members know how to swim. Choose a clean, well-maintained, supervised area to swim in. An area with a lifeguard is even better. Any swimmer, even good ones, can have an unexpected emergency in the water. Never swim alone. Stay clear of areas with murky water, drop-offs, and underwater plant life as these can be dangerous. Avoid diving. Don’t forget to enter the water feet first. It’s much safer. Keep in mind that safety must come first if you want to get the most out of lake swimming and have the best experience over it.
